The warning was reported to the police after six thefts occurred in Norfolk from November 9-11, 2021 (inclusive) this week:

Officials remind the public to be vigilant and notify the police if they see someone acting suspiciously around the vehicle.

PC Vicky Bailey of the Norfolk Police Department said:

"This week, we saw a number of catalytic converter thefts, spreading from the entire county and surrounding areas to neighboring Suffolk and Cambridge counties.

"The high-quality metals contained in the catalytic converter can be particularly valuable to thieves. Unfortunately, this week seems to be a target.

"We are currently investigating some reports and are working to determine if there is any connection between these incidents, but at the same time, if they have any information that can help our investigation, we will urge people to get in touch with them."

The police advise the public to consider the following points to reduce the possibility of such crimes:

Anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity or has information about the theft of a catalytic converter should contact the Norfolk Police Department on 101, or 999 if you think the crime is in progress.

Or call the fight crime hotline on 0800 555111 100% anonymously.
