"During the lockdown, we have more time available when we search for houses. So I spent a few hours saving photos of my favorite ideas on Instagram and Pinterest and creating a mood board for each room.

“The kitchen has plain brown cabinets and black countertops, so we decided to use marble-effect countertops and matching accessories to create a more monochromatic feel. We purchased items from B&Q, IKEA and Facebook Marketplace to complete the project on budget.

"First, we went to Homebase to find some supplies. We picked up a wooden roller to ensure a smooth finish, and selected the Harris Ultimate Woodwork Gloss 4-inch roller set for £5.50. Next we picked up two cans of Maison Deco Refresh paint. Suitable for kitchen cabinets, countertops and splash boards. A 750 ml tin can costs 26 pounds.

"In order to add a special touch, we decided to make all the handles on the wardrobe and drawers gold. We did this by removing them all and spraying them with Amazon cans. It cost only £11.98.

“The other hardware store we visited was B&Q. We picked up two rolls of self-adhesive film to cover our workbench, because I wanted to create a lighter and brighter space. In the end we chose DC-Fix Gloss Grey Marble. 5 pounds for sticky film.

"We want to add some shelves to the kitchen. A friend of ours gave us this idea so that we can regain some cabinet space and have the ability to save some of our better ceramic pieces from the back of the cabinet. I'm still on Instagram Saw the idea of a shelf pantry and wanted to recreate it for myself.

“In order to find these materials, we searched for people selling scaffolding wood cheaply on Facebook Marketplace, and we managed to buy them for £3 per board. Then we just polished them a little bit, keeping some roughness, because that’s what we want The way you want to.

"We bought the bracket from Etsy and it turned out to be one of the most expensive purchases. We bought some rustic handmade brackets made of reclaimed wood for £22.

"Some of the items we designed for the shelf include a gray medium rectangular casserole from ASDA, which costs £9, and some transparent jars with lids from Poundland. Other jars are from IKEA and are used to hold pasta at 9. £1.75 each. When we were at IKEA, we spent about £30 picking some artificial leaves for the tops of shelves and cabinets, and purchased a gold railing for extra wall storage for £8.

"The first step is to clean all surfaces with sugar soap, and then we lightly polish them. Next we remove the handles and spray paint, then let them dry. After that we remove the accessories we don’t want on the wall and fill the holes, then Sand them with sandpaper.

"After that, we painted the skirting boards and the ceiling, and then moved to the cabinets. Each cabinet was painted with two coats of paint. Next was the countertop, and we applied DC-Fix adhesive film on it. Finally, once everything was Done, we added shelves, and I designed styles for them.

"In general, this is easy to do, but it takes time to wait for the paint to dry, and it is difficult to paint some of the cabinets. If we have to do it again, we will close the door to complete the work. We had Try to avoid this because we think it might be difficult for them to start again. However, painting will become more difficult if they don’t enter the cabinet."

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: “As Rachel and Max have demonstrated here, DIY transformation does not have to be dramatic or gorgeous to make a difference.

"Just make a few changes to the color scheme and add a little paint to give the space a new look.

"DC Fix has quickly become popular, and there are good reasons-it is a good solution for those who are on a limited budget and are looking for reversible decoration options.

"Just don't put anything in the oven directly on this type of workbench cover, because it can only heat up to a temperature of about 75 degrees Celsius."
