The emergency services department is responding to the fire at the Bury gas station.

Traffic monitoring platform INRIX reported that a building fire broke out at the gas station on Radcliffe Bury Road between Spring Lane and North Street.

The Berea Football Association has warned fans who watched today’s football match at the Neuwen Stadium this afternoon to plan appropriate diversions in advance.

The football club wrote on Twitter: “For those who are going to watch today’s game, please try to avoid entering Radcliffe via Bury Rd as this is an ongoing emergency service incident at the gas station.

"If you come from there, you can use Dumers Lane or Radcliffe New Road."

Ben Levy, GMFRS Regional Manager, commented: “Due to the rapid actions of our control room operators and on-site firefighters, the impact of this fire was limited to the building.

"Although there may be some congestion in the surrounding area, the incident is now under control."

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 9:30 this morning (Sunday, November 21), firefighters received a report saying that there was an incident at the Bury Road gas station in Radcliffe. Fire.

"Six fire trucks from Bury, Bolton, Broughton, Farnworth and Whitefield fire stations, as well as aerial platform equipment from the Manchester Centre, arrived at the scene quickly.

"Before helping to ensure the safety of the scene, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels and a hose jet to extinguish the fire."

Witnesses at the scene said that the fire is believed to have started in the gas station store.
