Optimized for 90 minutes of cellulose fire protection.
Hempel launched Hempafire Pro 400, a new type of passive fire-retardant coating that can maintain the stability of the steel structure for up to 120 minutes in the event of a fire, and is optimized to achieve maximum loading efficiency for a duration of 90 minutes.
Passive fire protection (PFP) coatings insulate the steel during a fire, thereby extending the load-bearing capacity of the steel and providing valuable extra time for evacuation and emergency response. Hempel's Hempafire Pro intumescent PFP coating is known for its low load and can improve project efficiency.
Hempel launched Hempafire Pro 315 in 2018, which provides 60 minutes of cellulose fire protection and market-leading dry film thickness. Now, with the introduction of Hempafire Pro 400 that complies with BS 476 20/21, Hempel has expanded the scope to include 90 and 120 minutes of fire protection.
"Our Hempafire Pro series products have proven to be very attractive to painters and specifiers," said Roger Soler, Hempel's Cellulose PFP Group Product Manager. "Very low loading helps reduce total paint consumption and the number of coatings required. This in turn means that our intumescent paint dries faster than similar paints, which helps speed up project completion time. Since we launched Hempafire Pro 315, our customers have been requesting coatings with similar characteristics that are certified to withstand a fire protection time of 90 minutes. We developed Hempafire Pro 400 to meet this need."
Using Hempel's Hempafire Pro coating, the same product can be used on all steel profile types-for in-store and on-site applications. According to ISO 12944, they can be used in external conditions and corrosive environments up to C4.
Hempafire Pro 315 and Hempafire Pro 400 are available in two versions, standard and quick-drying. Hempafire Pro 400 is now available in the UK and other countries/regions that accept BS-476.
