Twelve people were taken to a hospital Tuesday after carbon monoxide leaked from a gas-powered generator into an Irving home.

The Irving Fire Department was called just before 6 a.m. to a home in the 3500 block of Briarcliff Court North, near Finley Road.

The carbon monoxide leaked from a generator being kept in the home’s garage, department spokesman Anthony Kennedy said.

All 12 residents were taken to hospitals and are stable.

No other details were released.

The fire department urged people to use generators only when they are placed at least 20 feet away from the home and with the exhaust pointed away.
