The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is seeking the public's help to identify a person who they said intentionally started a fire Sunday night at a Safeway in Bel Air.

Investigators said the man poured a flammable liquid on 100 boxes of fire starter logs outside of the doors of the Safeway on Brierhill Drive.

Authorities credited a store employee with attempting to extinguish the fire with two fire extinguishers; however, the fire rapidly grew beyond his control. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within minutes.

Investigators said the suspect was last seen near the Seasons of Bel Apartments. The suspect appeared to be wearing a face mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark-colored shoes.
