EUGENE, Ore. -- A memorial service was held today for Florence police chief and former Lane County sheriff Tom Turner.
Chief Tom Turner served the community for over 40 years, including four years as Lane County Sheriff and seven years as Florence Police Chief. He passed away in his home on May 11 surrounded by family.
The memorial service was held at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eugene. The service was open to the public. Turner’s family has asked that those wishing to donate offer contributions to local charities. Organizations that the family says meant a lot to Turner include Siuslaw Outreach Services, the Jazz Station, and National Night Out.
