The Zenova Group, a supplier of fire safety and thermal management products, announced on Tuesday that its Zenova FP fire retardant coating has been approved for use in London's Red Bridge District.

The company that trades at AIM explained that before a contractor can use Zenova FP in a building owned by the local government, it first needs to be “designated” by the local government as a fire protection product.

It said that after design, property and construction consulting firm Pelling LLP included Zenova FP in the Ilford High Road Deco Building renovation specification, the Redbridge Committee designated Zenova FP as a refractory coating — a project managed by Pelling on behalf of Redbridge.

"Although we have long known that Zenova FP has excellent ability to prevent fire and spread of fire, Pelling LLP included it in the public building renovation code, and Zenova FP was designated for use by local authorities, which confirms that the two others have Zenova FP’s confidence and it’s rapidly becoming the leading fire retardant coating,” said CEO Tonick Lauley.

"It is very important for Zenova FP to obtain the status designated by local authorities as a fire protection product, because without it, contractors cannot use it in buildings owned by local authorities.

"As the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Zenova FP grows, our goal is for Zenova FP to become the designated product of local authorities across the UK."

Crowley pointed out that the news was received shortly after Zenova FP became a designated product of the Borough of Enfield, London, and it was “relatively short” after Zenova was admitted to AIM.

"We are pleased with the progress we have made in bringing our products to new markets, and it is particularly gratifying that local authorities are beginning to recognize the critical role that Zenova FP can play in improving the fire safety of buildings owned by local authorities. "

At 1151 GMT, Zenova Group's share price rose 5.41% to 19.5p.
