A Kmart shopper made a surprising discovery in her kitchen and shared a warning about the popular air fryer.

The woman revealed in a popular Kmart Facebook group that she placed a Kmart circular terrazzo tray under the air fryer to protect her stone countertops-but then she was shocked by what she noticed.

"You will hear all the horror stories about air fryer bursting benches (I'm so happy to hear them)," she wrote.

"So I found this great terrazzo tray, which matches my bench at Kmart, it has cracked.

"But at least it's not a bench!"

Many people share their own "horror stories" on the Internet, but there are still many people who comment on posts saying that they "don't know" that this appliance will damage the kitchen bench.

"Oh my God? I don't know!" a shocked shopper commented.

"Wow, I have never heard of it! We used ours on the stone bench, I think I was just lucky," another pointed out.

"Mine did this on the acrylic splashback. I didn't realize it was sitting so far on the bench," was another comment.

Kmart's popular product instruction manual recommends that the device should only be used on a "stable, level, flat, and heat-resistant" surface.

It also says "Keep the device away from walls, curtains and other heat-sensitive materials." Most similar products have the same warning.

I made it too close to the window sill, and the hot air coming out of the back of the machine while cooking left lovely bubbles in the paint job.
